How to Pixelate Faces in Photos (Fast and Free)
What’s up everyone! Today I want to show you guys a super quick and easy way to blur or pixelate faces in your photos.
Whether you are a teacher sharing pictures of your classroom, or you just have a group photo where a friend doesn’t want their face posted online, blurring faces is something we all need to do sometimes.
Sure, you could use Photoshop for this, but honestly that is total overkill and super expensive. I am going to show you a completely free and secure way to do it right in your browser.
Step 1: Pick a tool that won’t steal your data
When you are dealing with pictures of people, privacy is a huge deal. You definitely don’t want to be uploading photos of your friends or students to some random website where they might keep your data.
That is why I highly recommend using a client side tool like Pixelate Images Online. The magic here is that it processes the image using your computer’s own memory. The photo literally never leaves your device.
Step 2: Drop your photo in
Just head to the website and drag your photo right onto the screen. You can also just paste a picture straight from your clipboard if you took a screenshot.
Step 3: Pick what to pixelate
Usually, these tools want to pixelate your entire picture by default. To just target a face:
- Look for the Target menu in the controls.
- Switch it from “Entire Image” to “Selection Areas”.
- You will see a box pop up on your picture that you can drag around.
Step 4: Line it up
Just drag that selection box right over the face you want to hide. Grab the corners to resize it so it covers them perfectly. Need to hide a second face? Just click the add button to draw another box.
Step 5: Dial in the blur
Next, look for the Pixel Block Size slider.
- Slide it right to make the blocks huge.
- Slide it left to make them smaller.
Quick tip: Make sure the blocks are big enough that you actually cannot recognize the person anymore. If you make the blocks too small, people might still be able to tell who it is!
Step 6: Save it
Once it looks completely unrecognizable, just hit the Download button. The tool will instantly create your new image and save it straight to your computer.
And there you go! In like 30 seconds you securely hid a face and now your photo is totally safe to post online.
